Lac de Baurech stretches over 47 hectares of nature, between the Garonne and the hillsides, in a peaceful setting far from the hustle and bustle of the city. The scenery changes throughout the day, with superb sunrises and sunsets reflected in the mirror-like water.
Thanks to its location in the Entre-deux-Mers region, the lake is also an excellent starting point for exploring the wine routes, small villages and panoramic views of the Gironde countryside.
A paradise for fans of skiing and outdoor activities
Wakeboard
On one part of the lake, a modern waterski lift offers wakeboarding, kneeboarding and waterskiing, pulled by a cable just like on a ski lift. Sessions are looped over a distance of around 640 metres, in a natural setting with no engine noise, with slots for beginners and experienced riders alike.
Local schools, such as the former EXO 33 ski resort now part of the WAM Park leisure park, welcome children, teenagers and adults for introductory courses, lessons and free sessions.
Water skiing and towed buoys
On the other side of the lake, the Ski Nautique Club de Bordeaux offers water skiing behind boats and towed buoys for a thrilling experience. Supervised by state-qualified instructors, skiers enjoy calm waters, a well-equipped area (slalom course, video for improving skills) and regular departures throughout the day in season.
Sessions are available for all levels, from a simple introduction to the sport to more challenging training, and the towed buoy is a favourite with families and groups of friends.
Electric mountain bike rides and hikes
Right next to the lake, an organisation dedicated to electrically-assisted mountain biking has developed marked trails in the surrounding woods and vineyards. The only one of its kind in the Gironde when it opened, Ebike Baurech lets you hire top-of-the-range electric mountain bikes to ride on a 4km circuit or take a longer ride in the surrounding countryside.
Whether you're an experienced sportsman or just a nature lover, these electrically-assisted mountain bikes offer a new way of discovering the hillsides, the views over the Garonne and the local wildlife (foxes, rabbits, wild boar sometimes spotted along the paths).
